A game quite similar to Cricket had been in existance in India and played since many years in the past even much earlier than the game started in Asian Countries such as Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Hong Kong, Thailand and Bhutan. However, there is no definite record of its origin in India as to when Tennis ball Cricket was first started in India and in Asian Countries as well.
The first Tennis Ball Cricket body was framed in 1982 known as Tennis Ball Cricket Association of India or (TBCAI).Infact Tennis Ball Cricket was more popular in Mumbai, Gujarat, U.P, Bihar due to the enthusiasm of the public and their love for the players as well as for the game.
Gujarat renowned as Macro of India for this game, but the game spread and gained popularity in other parts of the country & abroad. The game gained popularity being cheap & short time duration. The game looks more exciting and thrilling in flood lights. The game is being played by both Men & Women Catagories.
The Australian Cricketers adopted this game for regaining their form when they are out of teh form by using wet heavy tennis cricket balls on a cemented pitch / wicket while having practice sessions. This technique helps their batsman to adjust timing as well as the wet skides fast on a cemented track & moves in a faster speed.
Finally the Tennis Ball Cricket Association of India (TBCAI) was framed in 1994 in letter and spirit. The Tennis Ball Cricket Association of India plays a significant roll in conducting various Federation/National level championships before its recognition from the Govt. of India.
The Tennis Ball Cricket Association of India mainly known as TBCAI was finally recognized by the Union Govt. on 23rd April 1999.
The TBCAI organises National Championships in all age Groups i.e Sub-Junior (U - 16 Boya & Girls), Junior (U - 16 Boys & Girls), Seniors (Men & Women) annually besides Federations & All India championships alongwith Zonal championships as well.
